The Rex Hospital universal hearing screening program was the first in the state to screen the hearing of all newborns prior to discharge.  The program was started in January 1998.  My task as  the Audiologist consultant was to train the volunteer staff with the automated ABR equipment, disseminate information to the testers, nurses and physicians, monitor follow up results and compile data for the hospital, physicians and appropriate state agencies.

Topic of discussion concentrated on hearing aid compression technologies, recruitment testing and implications, manipulation of adjustable parameters to achieve appropriate frequency and loudness shaping, verification techniques and troubleshooting.
