Once your hearing aid arrives, we will schedule a hearing aid dispensing and fitting appointment. During the appointment, Dr. Engel will program your new hearing aid, adjust the settings, and teach you how to best care for it. You will learn how to put it on and remove it, change the batteries, adjust the settings and clean it. We recommend you bring a friend or family member with you to the appointment to provide support and help you remember all the information that is given to you.
The first time you put your hearing aid in, you may experience different emotions about the sounds you hear. Dr. Engel will then perform a few tests to make sure you are getting the right sound where you need it and will make any adjustments needed. By the time you leave our office, you can expect sound to be audible, clear, comfortable and pleasant.
Once you have worn the hearing aid in multiple environments and situations, you will likely require one or more additional appointments to further customize your hearing experience. If you are given a survey, it is important to be honest about what you hear with your hearing aid so we can work with you to create the best possible listening experience. Although it may take some time to adjust to the new sounds, Dr. Engel will work closely with you to ensure you get the most from your hearing aid.
